Senior Systems/Cloud Engineer

What you’ll do:

Our Senior Systems/Cloud Engineer will work as part of a team designing, administering, maintaining, and implementing physical, virtual, and cloud platforms, operating systems, enterprise storage, and supporting infrastructure across multiple data centers.

Responsibilities are diverse & touch on all aspects of network and systems management, including but not limited to:

  • Windows & Linux (RHEL) server installation, configuration, management, monitoring, scripting, & support
  • Azure and AWS infrastructure design, platform integration, configuration, management, monitoring, & support
  • Design & administration of the VMWare VSphere & Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure
  • Collaborate on definition of infrastructure standards & overall architecture roadmap
  • Manage & maintain Active Directory (synched with Azure Active Directory), Group Policy, Office 365, Exchange Online, & application servers (cloud & on-prem)
  • Manage patch deployment in a heterogeneous server environment
  • Configure & maintain Cisco switches & Fortinet firewalls
  • Hitachi SAN administration
  • Server & email antivirus/antispyware/antispam administration
  • Disaster recovery & high availability planning & implementation
  • Documentation, project planning, budgeting, & proposal writing
  • Engage with development teams, DBAs, & QA in a DevOps development process
  • Work with vendors, outsourcers, & contractors to secure products & services
  • Determine the effectiveness & efficiency of existing systems; develop & implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems
  • Hardening a variety of systems from a security standpoint
  • Collaborate with executive team members, decision makers, & stakeholders to define business requirements & systems goals, & to identify & resolve business systems issues
  • Maintain knowledge of server & infrastructure related topics, including emerging technologies, industry best practices, & compliance-related concerns

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in a systems engineering or network engineering role, including experience supporting a wide variety of technology solutions
  • Working experience installing and configuring network switches and firewalls
  • Working experience with VMWare VSphere
  • Working experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
  • Ability to learn and assist in technical areas not related to area of expertise
  • Understanding of cloud platforms, clustering concepts, backup solutions, patching, storage array systems, system security standards, disaster recovery methodologies, and virtualization technologies
